Responsibilities:

  • Understandall relevant documentation pertaining to the construction phase of the projectincluding scope of services, conditions of contract, project execution plan,project schedule etc.
  • Workwithin standard project cost engineering procedures.  Ensure that these procedures comply withcontractual reporting requirements and, if not, modifying accordingly.
  • Prepareactivity plans to accomplish all work required by the field procedures and toensure sufficient manpower availability.
  • Liaisewith Client Project Control personnel as necessary.
  • Preparecost budgets from the cost estimate, and update themon approval of contract changes and budget transfers.
  • Disseminatebudget information to all operating groups, providing clarification and additionalinformation where necessary and ascertaining commitment to budgets as the costtarget.
  • Generallyinstilling cost awareness in the project in the project organisation such thatcapital costs are controlled and changes to work scope are identified and quantified.
  • Obtainfrom operating groups, the latest information pertinent to cost analysis andensuring its accuracy and completeness. Attending meetings concerning cost matters.
  • Maintaina comprehensive material and construction quantity control and reporting systemto include the current status of budget, material take off and forecastquantities with input from the HO as required.
  • Liaisewith Construction Project Planning Engineer on analysis of project status.  Reviewing the impact of cost and schedulechanges upon each other.
  • Identifyand analyzing deviations and trends against the budgets.  Investigating such deviations with therelevant group and advising Construction Manager/ Project Control Manager ofissues requiring corrective action.
  • Establishand maintaining all cost recording documentation, providing comprehensive costanalysis and preparing forecasts of final construction costs.
  • Reviewoverall project status and forecasts with Construction Manager / ProjectControl Manager each month.
  • Prepare and issue Change Flags and Trend Notices to record changesto scope and changes to forecast respectively.
  • Assistthe Project Cost Engineer with the preparation of the monthly Contract ProfitReport (CPR) by providing associated back up.
  • Assistwith preparation of the monthly man hour backlog report by supplying MPP dataand associated back-up.
  • Ensurereconciliation on a quarterly basis between Field Cost Reports and AccountingDepartment cost and billing information.
  • Preparefinal construction cost statistics and advise on effectiveness of proceduresand systems for possible developments on future projects.
  • Useintegrated, industry standard tools, including EcoSys or similar ProjectControls system in performance of work responsibilities.




What youwill bring




Required Technical and Industry Experience: 


  • 10 years of experience as a Cost Engineer or Senior Cost Role
  • Experience working with EcoSys
  • Experience working on large capital projects
  • Cost Experience in the field of Construction, Oil & gas or PetroChemical
  • High School Diploma with 10 years minimum or experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Excellent written andverbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail
  • Ability to deal withconflicting priorities in a busy environment
  • Pro-active team player
  • Systems thinkeraccustomed to leveraging technology in performance of work


Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
  • High School Diploma and 10 years of experience in lieu of Degree



Preferred:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Civil Engineering
