Where you fit in

With over 40.000 gas stations in more than 70 countries Shell is one of the largest retailers worldwide. In Germany we supply 1 million customers per day while our 200 local colleagues continuously work on improving the customer offer - in the shop as well as on the forecourt.

Besides offering high premium gasoline and diesel, Shell is expanding its fuel supply to alternative energies, such as hydrogen, battery electric vehicle charging and LNG (liquified natural gas).

In 2018, the first Shell Retail LNG site in Germany was commissioned. Our goal is to quickly grow Shells LNG network for heavy-duty transport.

In doing so, Shell intends to contribute to the breakthrough of this alternative low-emission technology and to relieve the environment despite the continued increase in freight traffic on the roads. To find out more about Shells LNG and alternative fuels ambitions in Germany click here.

Whats the role?

In this field-based role you will be one of four future fuels engineers in the DACH Retail Engineering team. Your focus area will be the successful LNG program delivery through planning and execution of operational and maintenance performance within the cross-functional project team as well as by managing external stakeholders.
Among others your project managing priorities will involve:
  • Lead and drive HSSE and compliance standards implementation
  • Co-create a cohesive and integrated annual LNG construction plan
  • Progress Engineering delivery of LNG sites on time, in design and in budget
  • Ensure timely reporting for performance reviews incl. Capex and Opex planning, delivery on key milestones, HSSE performance as well as agree action plans
  • Drive continuous improvement including cycle time reduction, cost effectiveness and management without compromising safety and construction quality
  • Interface with key stakeholders in other Network functions, Sales and Operations, Marketing team and external project memebers
  • Participate in industry committees and working groups for future fuels, with a focus on LNG

Job Requirements:

What we need from you

We are looking for a solution-focused engineer who is able to constructively bring together conflicting priorities and form decisions in an ambiguous work environment. Alongside your engineering degree and experience in project management, you need to be commercially gifted, with excellent communication skills. Beyond that, wed hope to see some of the following on your CV:
  • Bachelors or masters degree in engineering, preferably process engineering
  • Relevant work experience in oil and gas industry, prior experience in retail operations and/or LNG is beneficial
  • Understanding of HSSE priorities and compliance regulations
  • Exposure to commercial decision making and effective performance management incl. budget control
  • Clear focus on project management and continuous improvement
  • Fluency in German and English (B2 level)
