Position Summary

 

Reporting to the discipline director in architecture and building upon Jacobs existing higher education credentials, experience and client relationships, this position will promote and provide Higher Education facility desing expertise, leadership, recognition, and market share growth.  Working in close collaboration with mid-Atlantic and Philadelphia operations management, business development leaders, design principals, architecture and engineering discipline leaders, the Higher Education Market Leader shall contribute to the profitability and sustainable growth of the Philadelphia practice of Jacobs Buildings and Infrastructure.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 
     
  • Responsible as a Seller-Doer - developing and utilizing internal and external client networks; serving as a Higher Education design expert internally and externally.
  •  
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic growth plan for the Higher Education market sector in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  •  
  • Team leader for the Higher Education program, including responsibility for project delivery, client satisfaction and program profitability.
  •  
  • Participates in client relations, sales and business development activities, including positioning, preparing proposals, and delivering presentations in interviews.
  •  
  • Represents Jacobs Higher Education expertise and capabilities at client meetings, industry events, and in public.
  •  
  • Provides Higher Education facility design leadership; responsible for the design and execution of quality building projects in-line with JACOBS processes and procedures that are functionally successful, technically sound and respond creatively to client needs, expectations, budget and schedule.
  •  
  • Contributes to and fosters a positive and sustainable transdisciplinary team working environment.
  •  
  • Local and regional travel required; potential national and international travel.
     
  • Proven leadership record and expertise in the Higher Education industry, with a focus on project success in the Mid-Atlantic geographic area; shall have an established higher education design reputation evident through built work, client relationships, industry exposure, recognition awards and publications.
  •  
  • Able to effectively represent Jacobs higher education expertise, experience and capabilities of the Philadelphia practice; must have experience dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  •  
  • Forward thinking; demonstrates ability to strategize business growth, articulate a clear vision and understanding of trends in the higher education space.
  •  
  • Excellent communication, people and presentation skills is required
  •  
  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited university is required; M Arch preferred.
  •  
  • Architecture licensure with registration in the U.S. for minimum 15 years is required.
  •  
  • Minimum 20 years professional practice experience with a focus on large, programmatically complex projects, including minimum 10 years of practice management involving direct client contact is required.
  •  
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in business development within the higher education market sector is required.
  •  
  • Able to effectively balance multiple priorities and possesses strong analytical, high-level problem-solving skills; highly responsible and motivated to achieve total project success.
  •  
  • Adheres to the highest of level of professional performance and ethical standards; embraces candor, transparency and accountability.
  •  
  • Actively, visibly engaged in community, industry and professional associations.
