Business Development & Stakeholder Manager – Offshore Wind

Job Overview

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for assisting with the identification of opportunities for the business with regards to offshore wind, allowing The Company to increase its ever-growing portfolio of projects within the sector.

They will report to and work closely with the US Country Manager for offshore wind, overseeing The Company’s investment and position with joint ventures and partnerships – such as the upcoming offshore wind projects already signed, ensuring each company benefits the other and benefiting The company’s ad-hoc services where required.

This role will also be accountable for coordination efforts of development initiatives in line with various company management.

One of the key focuses of this position will be the ability to collaborate and work closely with The Company’s various global offices, including other US locations and partnership companies – it will require often thoughtful cooperation with international contacts and therefore will require domestic, and occasionally international travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop, and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, utility company representatives, community leadership and regulators – in order to support The Company’s offshore wind development. Also, join outreach efforts.
  • Provide various services as/when required to The Company’s partnerships and joint ventures across the USA, helping to achieve and exceed project milestones and targets.
  • Support tender and proposal preparations for development rights that get submitted to both state and federal authorities, managing relationships with vendors and providing unlimited support to the procurement process.
  • Act as the focal point of contact between joint venture partners – you will be given a ‘helicopter view’ of the project and report to corporate your findings and results.
  • Manage expenditure and controlling for procurement and business activities.
  • Assist with other Company activities, including but not limited to finance, investments, energy assessments, origination teams, legal, engineering and construction.
  • Represent The Company in trade association, union, networking and industry forums and events as required.
  • Produce documentation, memorandums and communicate this information continuously and effectively to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage relationships with key local supply chain contacts, specifically in regards to joint venture teams and Company commercial agreements.
  • Conduct continuous research the landscape of US Offshore wind, including peers and direct Company competition.
  • Support direct line management to negotiate and establish equity and/or commercial partnerships, always in coordination with The Company’s key areas.
  • Producer and advise on commercial partnerships/contracts.



Direct Reports:
0-1 direct reports initially.

Travel:
Up to 50%, domestically by plane and by car and with short notice. Sporadic international travel is also anticipated.

Expected Experience/Qualification Requirements:

  • Ideally bachelor’s degree qualified with accompanying MBA qualification or master’s degree qualified
  • Over 5 years’ experience within business or stakeholder management, preferable within the energy, construction, or offshore industries.
  • Knowledge of MD Office software, with experience working with ArcGIS an added bonus.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks in a relatively unstructured environment with little supervision.
  • Flexibility to communicate with other Company team members
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind and solar energy, including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering



Salary Information:
For all The Company’s management positions, we expect to pay between $100,000 and $125,000 per annum with excellent bonuses and add-ons, including:

  • 30% annual bonus (allowing for a maximum annual package of $162,500)
  • 4 weeks’ paid vacation

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites

  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 20 and 40 pounds
