Manager III- Group Manager in Florida-Kennedy Space Center, United States

Jacobs Technology provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

 

 

 Responsibilities:  
     
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the allocated resources of Mechanical Engineering Design functions.
  •  
  • Provide technical leadership within TOSC / JSOG for the Mechanical Engineering Design function.
  •  
  • Represent TOSC / JSOG Mechanical Engineering Design areas of responsibility to the NASA customer.
  •  
  • Manage the overall working units area of responsibility; develop and implement plans; determine personnel requirements and assign; evaluate results, provide employee counseling and comply with EEO/AA programs.  Make personnel-related recommendations.
  •  
  • Prepare resource estimates and comply with budget limitations.
  •  
  • Interpret, adapt, and recommend policies and procedures; develop, coordinate, and implement policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. 
  •  
  • Implement quality, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  •  
  • Manage resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints, and contribute to the overall success of the company by providing a motivated and productive staff.
  •  
  • Must have ability to successfully interface with client representatives and manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfaction.
  •  
  • Support system safety analysis, Pressure Vessel System (PVS) certifications, FEMA/CIL reviews, risk review boards, Logistics Support Analysis reviews, Problem Resolution Teams, design reviews, Process Hazard Analysis, Engineering Review Boards, and Integrated Operations planning and scheduling meetings.
  •  
  • Be knowledgeable of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) process to ensure assets are designed for maintainability and reliability to preserve function and cost effectiveness throughout the asset life cycle.  Develop and proactively track metrics to monitor system(s) performance, efficiency, safety, and component/system reliability and obsolescence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  
     

 BS degree from an accredited college or university plus eleven (11) years of experience in engineering or a technical field including 3 years of management or technical leadership experience. Additional education may be substituted for a portion of the required experience. 
     
  • Requires demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior managerial / supervisory and/or technical leadership experience.
  •  
  • Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
  •  
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  •  
  • Thorough knowledge of KSC/NASA design standards is required.
  •  
  •  Thorough knowledge of industry standards and regulatory codes is highly desirable for hydraulic systems such as but not limited to: Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), International Organization of Standards (ISO) and National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).  Also Civil and Mechanical standards such as: American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC 360 for steel construction), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE 7 for wind and personnel loading parameters), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME B30.20 for below the hook lifting devices), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA 29 CFR 1910 for industry related safety standards)
  •  
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools such as but not limited to ProE or Creo, AutoCAD, Microstation, Windchill, STADD, MathCAD NX Nastran is required.
  •  
  • In depth knowledge of TOSC / JSOG Operational Procedures relative to Design, Analysis, drawing packages and Project Management is highly desirable.
  •  
  • Working knowledge of drawing standards utilized by GSDO, ISS, LSP, KSC heritage, and SLS OEMs is highly desirable.
  •  
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and outlook.
  •  
  • Manages resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints, and contributes to the overall success of the company by providing a motivated and productive staff.
  •  
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary

  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  •  
  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  •  
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
 

 

Work Environment

 
     
  • Work will mainly be done inside, but fieldwork can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the project.
  •  
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces may be required.
  •  
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  •  
  • Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
  •  
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
 

Equipment and Machines

  
     
  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  •  
  • Variety of equipment used in performing research.
 

 

Attendance

  
     
  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
  •  
  • Position may require occasional overtime  including weekend work depending on task.
  •  
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  •  
  • Shift work maybe required.

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  •  
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  •  
  • Must comply with all drug free workplace requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
