Rail Electrification Alliance (REAL) is a formal contractual alliance between six collaborative and integrated organisations: Jacobs, J Murphy, Network Rail, Siemens, TSP Projects and VolkerRail. REAL has been created to deliver two key projects power supply upgrade of the East Coast Main Line (ECML) from London Kings Cross to Bawtry under PSU1 and the power supply upgrade from Bawtry to Portobello under PSU2

Project Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (all staff):

 

 

Ensure you comply with the agreed Life Saving Rules at all times in relation to your own work and the work of others, ensuring safety is always an overriding consideration.

 

 

Contribute to the creation of an open safety culture by proactively taking personal responsibility for your own and others safety take action to resolve a problem (and report it) if you can, report it if you cant.

Purpose: The Health & Safety Advisor (HAS) role is a critical role for REAL and sits within business Operations.  Safety is our number one priority and the role is responsible for the effective delivery of Health, Safety, Quality and environmental practice for the East Coast Main Line Power Supply Upgrade Project.  The role will cover HSQE governance and provide professional proactive H&S advice as well as being the go to person for safety training, coaching, mentoring and education to the management team and project team members.

 

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: 

 

 

Proactively promote H&S best practice and established accident & incident prevention strategies throughout the managerial/supervisory/workforce levels (including contractors) as directed by the Senior H&S Manager.

 

Work with the managerial/supervisory teams within the project in the implementation of H&S standards and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with QUENSH requirements, ISO standards, current applicable legislation and other client requirements.

 

Undertake regular HSQE inspections to monitor compliance of the above standards and statutory requirements during the delivery of the project.

 

Provide professional H&S advice, coaching, mentoring, training and education to management/supervisors/workforce and contractors where identified as necessary.

 

Ensure H&S coordination of activities during planning of works by attending   project specific progress review and construction meetings In conjunction with managerial and supervisory staff manage and close out all associated investigation recommendations and remedial actions arising from accident & incident investigations. 

 

Review and provide professional safety advice in the production of Method Statements, SSIs, risk assessments, work instructions, etc. 

 

Attend client meeting and safety forums as directed by the H&S Manager

 

Drive safety values and behaviours putting safety at the core and forefront of what you do, supporting the Alliance culture in all aspects of the programme.

 

Assist the Alliance safety leadership in achieving a zero harm, everyone home safe everyday vision, in an environment of learning and continuous improvement. Support well-being in the organisation: i. Value the wellbeing of both self and others through the maintenance of healthy work/life balance, taking care to manage energy levels and taking recovery after peak periods of work load activity. ii. Being at home when at home, relaxing and not working into the evening consistently. iii. .

 

 

 

Previous experience in an Health and Safety role, ideally have working knowledge of both rail and civil engineering interfaces and practices.
