Our experience encompasses virtually every type of automotive test facility, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels; aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels; emissions test rooms; soak rooms; altitude chambers; engine and powertrain test cells; and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and build these facility systems assets but also operate, maintain, and manage them.


Job Duties:



  • Fabricate and build using a variety of machinist and welding equipment and test fixtures
  • Fabricate/ and build custom brackets, mounts, and test fixtures, and full vehicle breadboards for testing set-ups. 
  • Interface with Test Technicians, Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates and new test procedures, equipment and methods.
  • Work with the installation and assembly of electrical instrumentation, modules, sensors, power supplies, load boxes, inverters etc.
  • Fabricate breadboards and build up to test ready
  • Trouble shoot breadboard issues and provide customer support
  • Use oscilloscopes, meters, and logic analyzers to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Checkout electrical systems and verify per specification and drawings
  • Design test fixtures, harnesses and test boxes to meet client specifications
  • Develop new test fixtures/loads to simulate vehicle components
  • Specify and select electrical components to support electrical designs
  • Manage responsibility for safety of yourself, all personnel, and the lab

Position Requirements:  



  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
  • Ability to skillfully operate and work with a wide variety of hand and power tools associated with the trade.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Associates degree in Machine Shop technology or a related field OR working toward such a degree preferred.
  • Experience with vertical mills, lathes, band saws, drill presses, arbor press, metal brake, and pedestal grinder, CNC Plasma and Laser cutters.  
  • Experience and knowledge to design custom test fixtures in CAD
  • Experience and knowledge of CAD print conversion to CNC process
  • Experience and knowledge of CNC part set-up/ processing
  • Experience and knowledge of CAD print conversion to Plasma process
  • Experience and knowledge of Plasma cutter part set-up and processing
  • Excellent soldering skills
  • Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skills.


Preferred:

  • Experience and knowledge of MIG, TIG, and arc welding
  • Electrical background
  • Strong and proficient understanding of electrical automotive systems
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Experience with the following equipment: TORMACH CNC Milling Machine, TORCHMATE CNC Plasma Cutter, EPILOGE Laser Cutter, CNC Lathe, Digital Scan 3D Laser
  • Experience with 3D Printing, CAD/CAM, and PCB Design
  • Strong experience and skill in a variety of custom fabrication in all types of metal

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekend testing requirements.
