Senior Project Manager in Mapping Error!, Canada

Wood is seeking a Senior Project Manager in our Construction Remediation Group who will lead complex multi-disciplinary civil and civil/environmental remediation projects. This position reports to the Vice President, Program Manager of the Canadian Construction Remediation group and is based at the project site location Port Hope or Chalk River, ON.  The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and will be an effective communicator with a proven track record of building and leading teams while executing environmental and/or civil construction projects in Canada. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of a large remediation / civil earthworks projects by monitoring resources, schedules, budgets, client relations, contractors & subcontractors
  • Actively manage day to day execution of project scope, interface with Construction Mangers, Site H&S and QA/QC while leading of the production of RFIs, Change Orders and Non Conformance
  • Utilize your experience in planning to ensure that projects are being executed using the correct controls, adhering to quality and customer standards
  • Monitor the deliverables including reporting, procedures and systems that can be shared both internally and externally
  • Take an active leadership role in the preparation of large civil and remediation pursuits
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in directing and managing large multi-disciplined projects includes earned value management, invoicing, forecasting and schedule status activities
  • Provide technical direction to and mentors subordinate staff
  • Understand, apply and oversee the implementation of a best in class safety program



Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years experience managing large scale civil / civil remediation projects; with a minimum of 5 years experience managing projects in excess of $20M.  Experience in the nuclear construction industry a plus.
  • University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience.
  • Experience with managing the implementation of remediation projects including decommissioning and demolition, excavation and transportation of sediment / soil contamination, radiological decontamination, slurry wall, landfill cap, and/or civil earthworks projects.
  • Experience leading construction managers, site superintendents, safety managers, engineering managers and direct field staff.
  • Experience & knowledge of Ontario and Federal environmental and construction regulations
  • Excellent organizational, technical writing, communication and team-building skills.
  • Proven track record interfacing with senior management on project/program performance, bid evaluation, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with subcontractors
  • Must be able to obtain Federal Government Reliability Clearance, this requires that you have a minimum of 5 years living & working in Canada as either a Permanent Resident or Citizen
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and extensive background check (Federal Clearance)
  • Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
